About Guadalupe Centers Charter Schools

Education has been one of Guadalupe Centers’ foundational programs through most of its history. In the late 1980’s, the focus on education moved from providing English classes to adults and preschool programming to addressing the educational needs of young Latino students who were dropping out of the city’s public schools. Alta Vista, now Guadalupe Centers High School, was established as an Alternative Education Program focused on dropout prevention.

Expanding on the success of its High School, Guadalupe Educational System added a Middle School in 2010, and opened an Elementary program in 2012. During the 2017-2018 school year, GCCS reached a milestone through serving the full Pre-k - 12 grade ranges.

Starting from 15 students in the basement of a neighborhood church, the program has grown to become one of the established Charter School Systems in the city, serving over 1600 students from Pre-kindergarten through High School.

What is the Missouri Course Access and Virtual School Program (MOCAP)?

Missouri Course Access and Virtual School Program (MOCAP) was established in 2007 as the state’s online school. It was previously known as Missouri Virtual Instruction Program (MOVIP).  Currently, MOCAP offers courses for 9th through 12th grade and plans to expand to grades K-12. Students can take courses from any Internet-connected computer, available 24-hours a day, seven days a week. MOCAP’s mission is to offer Missouri students equal access to a wide range of high quality courses, and interactive online learning that is neither time nor place dependent.
