Thank you to Officer Samantha with KCPD DARE for visiting some of our 8th-grade classes this week. She highlighted the dangers of vaping and drug use, encouraged students to stay aware, and empowered them to make smart, healthy choices. She also made meaningful connections and took the time to answer many of their questions.

🌟 A Heartfelt Thank You to KC Current and United Way of Greater Kansas City! 🌟 Last week, staff members from KC Current and United Way of Greater Kansas City visited Guadalupe Centers Middle School with an amazing gift -300 winter warmth kits for our students! 🧤🧣❄️ During their visit, they enjoyed a special performance by our talented GCMS Mariachi, joined students for fun games, and toured our school with the help of some incredible student leaders. 🎶🎉🏫 We are so grateful for your generosity and the joy you brought to our school community. Before Thanksgiving break, students in Mrs. Duff's English Language Development class worked with Schoolyard Gardens to build three new garden beds at the front of our Middle School. As part of a real-world learning project, these garden beds will be full of vegetables come spring! Antes de las vacaciones de Acción de Gracias, los estudiantes de la clase de Desarrollo del Idioma Inglés de la Sra. Duff trabajaron con Schoolyard Gardens para construir tres nuevos parterres en el frente de nuestra escuela secundaria. Padres Comprometidos is a parent engagement program whose primary goal is the fostering of a strong connection between schools and parents. To this end, the Padres Comprometidos program builds the capacity of Latino parents to acquire the skills they need to effectively engage with schools and play a leading role in preparing their children for college. The program addresses language and culture as assets–rather than obstacles–upon which skills, confidence, and, ultimately, empowerment, are built.
