Coach Fountain and Coach Nielsen took the girls basketball team to a UMKC women's game last evening. Not only was the team announced over the PA system and the big screen, but they were invited to the court to scrimmage during halftime! The girls had a blast playing to the cheers of all in attendance and represented GCMS with great pride! (Coaches Nielsen and Fountain were beaming, too. We love our awesome kiddos!!!) La entrenadora Fountain y la entrenadora Nielsen llevaron al equipo de basketball a un partido de UMKC anoche. ¡No solo se anunció el equipo a través del sistema de megafonía y la pantalla grande, sino que también fueron invitados a la cancha para jugar durante el entretiempo! ¡Las niñas se divirtieron mucho jugando entre los aplausos de todos los asistentes y representaron a GCMS con gran orgullo! (Los entrenadores Nielsen y Fountain también estaban radiantes. ¡¡¡Amamos a nuestros increíbles niños!!!)

Aztec families! Check out this new program coming in March! Our schools social worker will be hosting classes that will help teach parents different ways to support their students and help them excel academically. The dates for these classes are: 40 Assets of parenting Presenter First Call: 3/13/25 Second class: 4/10/25 Third class: 5/8/25 Classes start at 5:30 -7 pm Light dinner served Workshop to be provided in English and Spanish. Aztec families! The high school and middle school will be collaborating for PTO this Wednesday at 5:30 PM, for a virtual session with Mrs. Baird from GCHS. Mrs. Baird will be talking about the "Grow Your Own" program in which she will discuss classes that may count for college credit. 8th grade parents, this will be important information for students who will be starting high school this upcoming fall semester! Aztec families! Our Parent Teacher Organization will be selling snacks and soda before the winter concert, December 18th, in order to raise funds for the school! If you can, feel free to donate any small bags of chips, individual soda cans, and water bottles! Thank you to Officer Samantha with KCPD DARE for visiting some of our 8th-grade classes this week. She highlighted the dangers of vaping and drug use, encouraged students to stay aware, and empowered them to make smart, healthy choices. She also made meaningful connections and took the time to answer many of their questions.
